B.C. Curriculum

The B.C. Curriculum exists to bring educators, students and communities alike into the conversation of how, what and why we educate. At the heart of the B.C. Curriculum are the Core Competencies. The Core Competencies are defined as Thinking, Personal and Social Awareness and Communication. These competencies are a foundation for all other content across the curriculum to take root. Practice and excellence in these competency areas not only contributes to academic achievement, but also to the social and emotional wellness of our province and world. Perhaps what I find to be the strongest element of the B.C. Curriculum is an awareness of the need to inventory our curriculum regularly and to embrace the many changes needed to grow and progress with current generations.
