The B.C. Professional Standards for Educators outline and guide teachers in advancing and expanding within the role of education. The standards firmly and explicitly identify the expected standards with which teachers should conduct themselves in a variety of professional settings. This type of document removes much of the ambiguity that can come with the many layered facets of working within the education system. If teachers, administrators, students, parents or community members ever find conduct within the education system uncertain, this document can act as an anchor. Professional Standards as I see them protect professionals, students and communities as we participate in the journey of education together.
